Japan: The kingdom of manga. To this day, the image holds, that there is more paper  used for manga than for any other medium and that thus people of all ages may engage with an almost infinite wealth of picture-stories.
However, which forms does manga use take in today’s digitised world? What about their place in Japan’s media system and  everyday culture? Based on these questions and the relationship between producers and consumers this lecture focuses on the developments of the medium since the revolution of girls manga of the 1960s/70s.
